Pharmacists who hold a Certificate of Registration expiring 31 December 2016 who wish to continue their registration for 2017 may apply online from Wednesday 19th October 2016.
The PSI is no longer issuing hard copy registration renewal forms. Each registered pharmacist will be receiving an email in the near future outlining the options to either apply online or to download the application form for completion. It is important to note that failure to renew 30 days before the expiry of your current certificate will incur the addition of a late fee to continue registration fee.
The latest edition of the European Industrial Pharmacy Journal (Issue 30) is now available eipg-journal-no-30_oct-2016. This issue includes articles antibiotic resistance and a very interesting look forward to how pharmacy will be practiced in 2050.

The NFQ level 9 Postgraduate Certificate in (Bio)Pharma Processing is an innovative programme offered to science, engineering and pharmacy graduates who wish to take up employment in the Irish (Bio)Pharma sector. The programme commencing in September 2016 will be taught over two semesters (September to December and January to April). The programme is part-time and will be taught via a combination of classroom and laboratory classes delivered Fridays (9.30am to 4.30pm) in the School of Pharmacy, UCC and the provision of course materials that students can study under their own schedule at home.
This programme provides an excellent opportunity to obtain an overview of the theory and practical elements of the pharmaceutical and biopharma production of medicines. In addition to technical readiness for employment, the certificate is designed to support participants with job readiness. The module ‘Transitioning into the Workplace’ (5 ECTS) is designed to assist students in actively planning and preparing for their future careers and support students in their application for placements and positions within the (Bio)Pharma sector.
Participants of the previous delivery of this programme 2015/2016 are now employed in technical roles in GSK, Merck Millipore, Boston Scientific and Biomarin.

The European Industrial Pharmacists Group (EIPG) has developed a series of e-Learning courses on biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing. These courses consist of audiovisual presentations with supplementary reading material and multiple choice questions and if the student is successful, will provide a certificate of competency (details provided in the link below).
In order to gain initial feedback on the course, the series of fifteen eLearning lectures and supplementary reading material will be available to PIER members free of charge until 31st July 2016, providing that they provide feedback on the courses.
