Interesting report by ABPI about the skills shortage that is facing the UK life sciences industry. The report states that there is a need for individuals with a knowledge of clinical pharmacology, bioinformatics, statistics, data mining, health economics and outcomes. All areas that pharmacists would be ideally suited to with further qualifications. Would expect similar skills shortages is facing the Irish life sciences industry.
Congrats to PIER member Dr Mike Morris (Director of Scientific Affairs, HPRA) on his Professional Excellence Award at the Helix Health Pharmacist Awards on 21st November 2015. His contribution to the Irish regulatory environment is immense. And he has contributed hugely to the IMB/HPRA reputation at the EMA, Ph Eur & ICH table.
