The European Industrial Pharmacists Group (EIPG) has developed a series of e-Learning courses on biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing. These courses consist of audiovisual presentations with supplementary reading material and multiple choice questions and if the student is successful, will provide a certificate of competency (details provided in the link below).
In order to gain initial feedback on the course, the series of fifteen eLearning lectures and supplementary reading material will be available to PIER members free of charge until 31st July 2016, providing that they provide feedback on the courses. Access details can be found in the members section of the PIER Website in 'Member Communications'.

PhD Opportunities for recent Pharmacy graduates within an EU funded Marie Curie Training Network
Have you ever considered completing a structured PhD training programme in another EU country? PEARRL is a European Training Network (ETN) recently funded under the Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions. PEARRL is a specialist PhD programme focused on developing innovative drug formulation strategies and regulatory tools tailored to facilitate earlier access to medicines. It brings together European Pharma industry, academia and regulatory agency partners in a multi-sectorial team to deliver a unique PhD training programme for 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESR).
PEARRL will train 15 PhD students on strategies to develop novel bio-enabling formulations (“better drug products”), biorelevant and in silico methods to predict formulation performance in vivo (“streamlined development”) and serve as communication bridgers between research and regulatory science (“accelerated approval”), thus bringing Pharma industry and regulatory agencies objectives to fruition
PEARRL have recently advertised PhD Studentships within the ETN. For further information please see the PEARRL website http://www.pearrl.eu/. The candidates will be recruited within 2016 for a duration of 36 months. The deadline for applications is 15th May 2016.
The PIER Spring CPD meeting will be held in School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences TCD (Joly Theatre) on Wed evening 13th April 2016 at 7pm. The theme of the meeting will be ‘Personalised Medicine' with an oncology focus. The speakers will be:
Professor William Gallagher(Conway Institute, UCD) 'Personalised Medicine in the Oncology Arena: Home-Grown Examples and International Experiences'?
Dr Mike Starnawski (Roche) 'Targeted Therapies - Opportunities and Challenges'
Professor Laura McCullagh (TCD & NCPE) 'The NCPE Pharmacoeconomic Evaluation Process. Application to Targeted Drugs for Oncology'
Please register for this event by Friday 8th April by emailing email@example.com. Membership will need to be current to attend this meeting.
